What is Monteragroup.co and how Does it Claim to Work

The monteragroup.co website claims to be a trading and “financial growth” service that helps users to improve investment performance and access “market opportunities”. The website uses language based around business strategy, growth and wealth building, which tends to make its actual service offering hard to define when it is also talking about investment trading.

Under the heading “Data Driven Strategies” it states, “We move beyond generic marketing tactics. Our core services are designed to build a powerful, sustainable growth engine for your brand, turning data into decisions and decisions into results”. So it sounds like they are offering marketing services for businesses.

The ‘Contact’ page lists an address in Switzerland, however searches on the Swiss company register only found a company named “Montera Group GmbH”, that is a structural engineering company.

The lack of a real registered company is the first red flag. Additionally, the phone number +44 20 3892 1956 that is listed is a non-fixed VoIP number registered in the UK – very strange for a company claiming to be in Switzerland don’t you think?

There’s a total lack of transparency at a glance, with the monteragroup.co website attempting to use branding and promotional messaging to build trust. With such a vague description of what the offering actually is and no verifiable company details, it seems clear that Montera Group is not to be trusted.

Key Red Flags Found on Monteragroup.co

The Montera Group website presents several warning signs, with claims like “consistent growth”, a total lack of transparency, and an unclear service offering. The heavy reliance on marketing speak in combination with investment trading definitely makes it tricky to ascertain what their offering actually is.

The business address not matching the country the phone number is registered in is a dead giveaway. The contact email address listed on the ‘Contact’ page is on a different domain name: info@monteragroupsupport.online, this is a common tactic used by scam websites.

The reason why scammers do this is so that once the website that carried out the scam gets shut down the contact email address may not, which allows them to keep on communicating with the victims.

The ‘About Us’ page lists no information about the team or the “company” owner, which is unusual. Instead it lists some generic sounding “guiding principles” that sound like they were written by Chat GPT.

The testimonials don’t list where the person actually is meant to work, like in the example below it just says “Marketing Director”. Why would they want to conceal the company name of where the supposed marketing director works? It just makes no sense, and it makes the testimonials feel like they are fake – because they are! Let’s not even talk about how outlandish 300% ROI sounds!!

How Monteragroup.co Markets its “Growth” and Marketing Services Model

The Montera Group positions itself as a marketing and growth services provider. The content on their website suggests they do promotion, run ad campaigns and carry out performance based marketing for their clients. However they also speak about investment trading.

This overlapping of the services they are saying that they offer simply creates confusion, and suggests the website may be just a front. The website doesn’t mention any specific marketing campaign types or packages, and instead relies on vague and generalised claims with very little substance.

This lack of clarity raises many red flags, and makes it hard for users to understand what Montera Group is actually offering. Business websites are usually designed to simply convey what the service offering is, not make it unclear.

Montera Group User Reviews and Complaints

Cybertrace has received complaints from people who have been contacted by Montera Group, and people have also been searching for monteragroup.co on our free Scam ID tool

The complaints have stated that Montera Group are behaving like asset recovery scammers, and are actively contacting people who have been scammed previously and telling them that they can recover their funds.

One complaint stated that 4 years after being scammed initially, Montera Group called them saying that they have money in a crypto account that has accumulated over the last 4 years, and that they needed to upload personal identification documents to transfer this $24,000 from their crypto account to their personal bank account. Red flag central!

This contact was unsolicited, so Montera Group may have seen the victims complaints on negative reviews, or alternatively they may be the same people that scammed the victims originally…which is often the case with recovery scams. Our scam investigators see this type of behaviour all of the time.

Here’s a few reviews, investor warnings and user complaints we found about Montera Group.

This investor warning on the Financial Markets Authority of New Zealand website lists monteragroup.org as being involved in recovery scams. Additionally it lists the same contact email address of [email protected] that is listed on the contact page of monteragroup.co, so the two appear to be the same fraudulent entity.

From reading the user reviews and complaints we have identified, it seems clear that the monteragroup.co website is run by asset recovery scammers masquerading as a legitimate marketing company. Do not engage with monteragroup.co!

Is Monteragroup.co Part of a Larger Scam Network

It didn’t take much research to reveal that the monteragroup.co website is directly linked to the monteragroup.org website. Despite the websites having different designs and content, they share the same contact email address.

Asset recovery scams are generally run by crime syndicates that operate these types of scams at scale. Even though we only uncovered 2 websites so far, it’s extremely likely that the people running this scam have a large network of websites.

Scam websites of this nature will get shut down reasonably quickly once they start scamming people in bulk because they end up getting reported. Eventually, the website host will be sent a takedown notice and the original website will go down.

Then they simply start the scam up on another similar domain name, and they continue to operate until that website gets shut down. We associate this pattern of behaviour with investment scam websites and recovery scams too.

What to do if You’ve Already Signed up or Sent Funds

If you have already signed up or sent money to monteragroup.co, you need to stop engaging with them immediately. Do not send them any more money, no matter what they tell you.

Then you should secure your bank accounts, and any crypto wallets or exchanges that you used. Update all of your passwords using a strong password generator, and enable 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) where possible.

You should also ensure that you document all communication, screenshot everything including transaction and wallet IDs, and keep all emails and messages from them.

We recommend reporting it to the relevant scam reporting bodies in your region. Then you should contact Cybertrace and one of our licensed cyber scam investigators can assess your case.

How to Protect Yourself From Similar Platforms

In this day and age it’s very important to do your due diligence when it comes to engaging with any kind of business online. The majority of people already do, if you are going to buy a product online the first thing most people do is go and look at the user reviews written by people who already purchased the item.

Surely then it would make perfect sense that most people would look up reviews online and look for investor warnings when dealing with investment trading websites. However, it’s surprising how many don’t. In this case we have an asset recovery scam using a marketing website as a front, so it’s quite different to what we normally see.

Regardless, it doesn’t take much time or effort to do a few quick Google searches for “monteragroup.co scam” or “is monteragroup.co a scam”. The first result in Google for that second search query brings up the New Zealand Financial Markets Authority warning page we mentioned earlier, it would be difficult to miss this huge red flag.

The language used on the monteragroup.co website drops the phrase “consistent growth” repeatedly and also “50+ million in revenue generated”. These are bold claims with no substance

Final Verdict on Monteragroup.co

With its confusing messaging and lack of transparency the monteragroup.co website and brand is definitely one to be avoided. The negative user reports, complaints to Cybertrace and poor reviews listed on reputable websites really says it all.

It’s not just one red flag, there are many to be found and it sure didn’t take much effort to uncover them. Do your own due diligence, and stay vigilant. The Internet is full of scam websites these days that are posing as real companies. Slow down, take your time and do some research. It could save you a lot of money and stress in the long run.

Feel free to tell us your story in the comments section below if you have been the victim of the monteragroup.co scam.

Based on the evidence available and numerous red flags that Cybertrace uncovered in this article it is clear that the monteragroup.co website lacks transparency, and has an unclear service description.

Additionally there are many negative reviews online, and user reviews from people that have been scammed by them. Users have reported that they use asset recovery scam techniques. Do not engage with monteragroup.co.

Cybertrace identified that monteragroup.co is using the different domain name monteragroupsupport.online for their main contact email address. Additionally, the same email address [email protected] was found to be in use on the related monteragroup.org website.

Using a different domain name for the email address on a scam website is a common tactic used in scams. This allows the scammers to continue contact with the victims even if the original scam website and domain gets flagged and taken down.

The answer is no. Montera Group is supposedly a marketing company, however they have been performing asset recovery scams. These scams are a secondary scam that targets scam victims, where they claim they can help them get their money back. However, it’s just another scam. Do not engage with monteragroup.co or monteragroup.org.
