Is Cexioprodx.com A Scam? The Fake Crypto Exchange Impersonating CEX.IO

What Is Cexioprodx.com And How Does It Claim To Work?

Screenshot of the cexioprodx.com scam crypto exchange.

In this article, we are reviewing the cexioprodx.com “cryptocurrency exchange”. It was noted on their homepage they claim “more than 36 million users joined”. This seems like an extremely bold and unrealistic claim for a domain name that is only 197 days old! We sure didn’t have to look too hard to start to see the cracks appearing.

A little further down the home page states “The core team at CEX.IO Pro is comprised of experts from globally renowned internet and financial enterprises, including early pioneers and investors in the digital asset industry.”  Ok, so where’s the proof of this? Also, note that they wrote “CEX.IO” rather than cexioprodx.com.

We can see early on that cexioprodx.com is off to a shaky start, stick around while we pull this website and its claims part.

Why Cexioprodx.com Is Linked To CEX.IO Impersonation

After some research we quickly identified that cexioprodx.com is impersonating the crypto exchange cex.io, which has been operating since 2013. The cexioprodx.com website uses the same logo, a similar colour scheme and the domain names look similar as well.

This tactic of making the website, the brand name and the domain name look similar to the website that they are impersonating is something our scam investigators see all of the time. The scammers are using the branding that’s been around for a long time in an effort to build trust, when none is deserved.

Is Cexioprodx.com Legit Or A Scam?

The cexioprodx.com website shows multiple strong indicators of being a fraudulent crypto exchange impersonation scheme, designed to mimic the cex.io exchange. The fact that they have used their logo but aren’t related to that company is a dead giveaway.

There is also a total lack of details about company ownership listed on the website. This is a huge red flag, along with the fact there is no information about any regulation with the appropriate financial regulator organisations. Even their ‘Terms of Service’ and ‘Privacy Policy’ pages lack any company information.

Another warning sign is things like cloned websites and rapidly changing domain names. Cexioprodx.com should be treated as unsafe. If a platform cannot clearly prove who operates it and how it is regulated, the safest move is to avoid it altogether.

Major Red Flags That Should Not Be Ignored

One of the most obvious signs is the brand impersonation, which is a commonly used tactic to build false trust. Any platform relying on a well known brand name it is not officially connected to should immediately raise concern.

The lack of licensing or regulation information on the website is a total deal breaker. If you can’t easily confirm that the company exists and that it is regulated, do not engage. This is a huge obvious red flag that can’t be ignored.

The new domain name that is only just over 6 months old is another red flag. Established legitimate websites in the cryptocurrency exchange space will have a long history of operation. Not just a few months!

Being unable to withdraw money is another common red flag, and we identified many negative user reviews saying they could not withdraw. With all of these warning signs appearing together it seems clear that cexioprodx.com is a scam

How Fake Crypto Exchanges Like Cexioprodx.com Trap Users

Websites like cexioprodx.com will try to position themselves as legitimate crypto exchange platforms, and start grooming potential victims with trust building deception techniques. Mirroring the look and feel of other more established websites really can help to gain them trust with people who may recognise the branding.

These scam websites are designed to look real. A slick looking website with a professional looking trading dashboard can certainly fool many people before it is too late. Everything is designed to look real, even though the operators are totally controlling the figures you see in your dashboard.

Once a victim is convinced, they will be encouraged to make deposits and will be prompted with bonuses and promises of “great returns”. They are usually time sensitive, which applies pressure for them to act and keep depositing more. Often they will assign you with an “account manager” who will start ramping up the pressure.

By the time the victim realises something is wrong, it’s already way too late. They may try to withdraw their money then realise that isn’t possible. They will then be met with excuse after excuse. At this point the website may even go offline and communication will dry up.

The Cloned Websites Connected To Cexioprodx.com

Cybertrace identified three websites that appear to be clones of the cexioprodx.com website: exchangeio.net, thektchnfoodtruck.com and sourceweb3.com. The design, layout and content on all 4 websites is very similar.

So it appears that cexioprodx.com is part of a network of scam crypto exchange websites. These additional websites display the same lack of transparency with no verifiable company details and no evidence of regulatory bodies governing them.

A quick check of the domain records revealed that these aren’t well established domains. Not to mention that the thektchnfoodtruck.com seems like a completely off topic and irrelevant domain name to be used for a crypto exchange!

thektchnfoodtruck.com – 857 days old

sourceweb3.com – 137 days old

The Connection Between Fake Platforms And Real Exchanges

One of the most effective tricks used by scammers is borrowing trust from other established brands. In this case they have impersonated CEX.IO, even when they have no affiliation at all. This helps to create a sense of familiarity that helps to lower someone’s guard.

They use the same logo and colour scheme, and this creates the visual imitation. Then they use a very similar looking domain name. Slight spelling variations and adding hyphens are things we see often. Many people would not notice slight differences in a domain name.

At the end of the day this strategy is about manufacturing credibility without actually earning it. Real cryptocurrency exchanges are heavily regulated. They will generally be totally transparent on their websites with their company information, contact details and regulatory information.

What To Do If You’ve Already Used Cexioprodx.com

If you’ve already signed up or deposited funds into Cexioprodx.com, the most important step is to stop sending money immediately. They may try to tell you that you need to pay “taxes” or “fees” to unlock your funds. This is just an extra layer of the scam, do not send them any more money.

Next you should try to withdraw and see what happens. If they ask you for fees at this point, be very worried.

You also need to secure all of your financial accounts and personal info. Update all of your passwords on your email, banking apps and any connected crypto wallets with strong passwords and enable 2 factor authentication where possible.

Document all evidence, emails, chat messages, transactions and wallet addresses. Basically anything that may help a bank, Police or an investigator to identify who stole your money. Next, contact your bank. You may be able to request chargebacks depending on how you paid the scammers or paid for cryptocurrency.

You also need to report the platform to relevant authorities and scam reporting bodies in your country. This helps build a record of the scam operation, and may help to prevent others from being targeted.

Be very careful of “recovery agents” or asset recovery scams. A common red flag is when an “Asset Recovery” company contacts you out of the blue and offers unsolicited support to get your money back. Often it is the same scammers who already stole your money! Nasty hey?

Can You Recover Money From Crypto Scam Platforms?

Recovering money from scam crypto exchange platforms like cexioprodx.com is difficult, but certainly not impossible. The outcome depends heavily on how the money was sent, how fast action was taken, and whether any financial intermediaries (like banks or regulated exchanges) were involved.

If payments were made via a credit card or bank transfer, there may be a chance of recovery through a chargeback or transaction dispute. Banks will sometimes reverse payments if you report them quickly, and you can prove that they are linked to fraudulent activity. Success is not guaranteed here.

If funds were sent via cryptocurrency, recovery becomes harder. However, our cryptocurrency tracing investigators are the leading experts in Australia for crypto tracing. We trace lost and stolen cryptocurrency for clients all around the world.

How To Protect Yourself From Similar Crypto Scam Sites

Never race into any kind of transaction with a cryptocurrency exchange website. You really need to do your due diligence. A few easy checks to start with are to check the domain name age, and check the business registration and regulation details. If it’s a young domain there’s no legitimate company information and no regulation, stay well clear.

Next, do some Google searches like “is cexioprodx.com a scam?”, “is cexioprodx.com legit?” and “cexioprodx.com reviews”. If the website is a scam there will generally be multiple negative reviews online, and investor warning pages as well.

Be cautious of offers that sound too good to be true, or pressure tactics. A real crypto exchange won’t behave like this.

Checking every detail really is a good idea if you are planning on using a crypto exchange platform. Verifying everything is the best way to ensure you don’t fall victim to an impersonation based scam.

Feel free to tell us your story in the comments section below if you have been the victim of the cexioprodx.com scam.

No. After our comprehensive review in this blog we uncovered many red flags that show that cexioprodx.com is a fraudulent, unlicensed crypto exchange that is actively stealing money from multiple victims. There is no transparency and no verifiable company details.

We uncovered no evidence that cexioprodx.com is officially connected to cex.io. It appears that cexioprodx.com is imitating the cex.io website and its branding to attempt to deceive people and build trust. Do not engage with cexioprodx.com.

Scam crypto exchange platforms often do their best to make the website look slick, and look similar to well known platforms as this helps to create the illusion that they are legitimate when they aren’t. The cexioprodx.com platform falls into this category. Don’t judge a website by looks alone.

Cybertrace identified many negative user reviews saying they could not withdraw their money from the cexioprodx.com platform. We recommend not engaging with the fraudulent operation at all.

Stop sending money immediately. Attempt a withdrawal. Collate all evidence and contact us and we can assess your case. Also, ensure that you contact your bank and see if they can perform chargebacks on any transaction if applicable.

You may be able to get some of your money back through chargebacks if payments were made by card. Crypto transactions are generally irreversible, however if a legitimate exchange was used for the transactions there is a chance of recovery. Acting fast will surely give you a higher chance of recovering funds.

Check that there is a legitimate business registered and check for regulatory details. Check the age of the domain with a WHOIS or RDAP search. Do Google searches to find online reviews, and check the domain name on websites like Trustpilot and Scam Adviser.
