Wondering if that crypto trading website is legit? Suspicious that a promising new investment site might be a scam? Without expert know-how or sophisticated tools, it can be hard to know what is real and what is fake or how to tell if a website is a scam. Fortunately, help is now at hand through a brand-new, easy-to-use free public scam detector / scam checker tool. Drawing on its unrivalled expertise, vast access to information and premium intelligence capability, Cybertrace is introducing ScamID.

What does ScamID offer?

ScamID provides the public with a free and easy mechanism to check if a website presents a scam risk. Handily, concerned citizens and potential investors simply enter any web address into the scam detector. Within seconds, a user-friendly traffic light system will inform them of the risk level associated with the site. It’s an easy-to-use, free, and innovative tool to help protect our community from fraud.

How does ScamID work?

ScamID automatically taps into multiple databases, including those maintained by our global partners, such as reputable EU-based firm ScamAdviser. In addition, our scam detector has exclusive access to the vast vaults of virtual intelligence from Cybertrace’s forensic website investigations. Compared to automated sites that rely solely on algorithms, Cybertrace’s scam detector tool therefore offers a premium intelligence product based on human analysis and data validation.

Why is ScamID needed?

With the increasing popularity of cryptocurrency and forex trading, scammers are having a field day defrauding innocent victims. According to the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC), more than one third of Australians have been victims of cybercrime. In its 2019-20 Annual Cyber Threat Report, the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) called it “one of the most pervasive threats facing Australia, and the most significant threat in terms of overall volume and impact to individuals and businesses”. In 2019-20, there were almost 60,000 cybercrime reports to the government’s official ReportCyber website. This equals about 164 reports per day or one report every ten minutes! With almost 40% of cases, the most common cybercrime category was fraud. Unfortunately, police are overwhelmed by the sheer number of cases of cyber fraud and it is obvious we need a scam detector to help prevent it!

In its most recent report, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) estimates that Australians lost an eye-watering $634 million to online scams in 2019. Sadly, it is likely that these high numbers represent a gross underestimate and the true total cost of cyber fraud in Australia probably exceeds one billion dollars per year! The 2019 figures represented an 30% overall increase on 2018 figures, with reported investment scams rising by almost 60%! Unfortunately, there are no Australian figures for 2020-21 yet, but we anticipate huge further increases in cyber fraud. All this points to the dire need for an accessible, free, and easy-to-use scam detector website to help prevent fraud!

Who should use ScamID?

Since it’s free and easy to use, ScamID is a scam detector website for everyone. From first-time investors to seasoned pros, anyone can run any website through the scam detector. Furthermore, ScamID will immediately tell you the relevant risk level, so that you can make informed decisions about your investments. In a world of endless possibilities, reliable information is key! Over time, we will continue to build capacity, add more data, and use our unrivalled expertise to make ScamID the go-to tool everyone uses before making any online investments. For those who want even more analysis, you can also request a detailed forensic website report directly from Cybertrace.

Additionally, ScamID can serve banks, private equity firms and others with responsibilities under Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Rules. Moreover, commercial applications and data packages are available upon request. Finally, Cybertrace views the ongoing development of ScamID as a key contribution to keeping our whole community safe from cybercrime.

Hello.Have transferred some cryptocurrencies to flarefinance.ltd as they have said that it is safe with them, as previously I have neem scammed on uphold. So, few times have put more i to the account, but when I requested for withdrawal they said I have to pay $200 and then I can get TPA. Once I done that, flare said oh sorry the price has gone up this morning, so need to pay another $198. The problem is I informed them before I transferred and they never said anything about the price going up. So I have lost trust. Is it possible to get the money/tokens back? Many thanks.
